We're all about building cars,
it's our business.
We fought chickens, chiggers, and roaches to uncover this car.
Listed in our local newpaper as a "Corba" kit car for sale I knew we had just made a great find.
It needs some work....maybe a lot of work, but will make a great car!
Projects have to start somewhere. It doesn't look like much from here, but trust me, it will look great when finished.
The body gets a thorough sanding with 80 grit
When things don't line up, you rebuild them. This is the left door opening.
A Ford 320 block and the 5 speed transmission are used to set the engine/transmission position. This is an extremely critical step and must be done right.
If you have ever driven one of these cars you know how important it is to have room to navigate around the pedals. I gave this set plenty of room, even for feet as big as mine. Also notice that I've cut out the steel floor pan. The factory placed the pan on top of the rails. I'm moving it to under the rails. More foot room is the goal.
I little more test fitting to be sure the body aligns.
I didn't know how much trunk room this car would have. Plenty!
That's even after I put the battery back here.
The dash is another area to get right. Here the hole for the steering column is cut. The column will be a tilt unit from Flaming River.
The deck lid gets a little modification to improve on the fit.
A lot of fitting and building was needed to reach this point. But now it is time to take everything apart and begin the refinishing side of this project. Here the frame has been soda blasted and coated with epoxy.
After the epoxy coat the frame get three coats of urethane gloss black.
Eventually the car will sport an Electric Yellow paint job. The finish starts with the engine.
Assembly starts up front with the radiator and front suspension.
A couple of shots of the assembly work. Notice that the engine and tranny is in place, the interior pan has been installed and the right hand seat is there to help establish where to place the seat belt mounts.
Time for a little insulation before the body is lowered for the last time.
A little primer and a lot of pin holes to be filled
The car gets a coat of Eastwood Electric Yellow Single Stage Urethane. Nice color and easy to spray
Next is the Eastwood Chop Top Silver. Also a single stage urethane
Looking good!!!!. All I need now is a little time finish this ride
