To offer a little background on this project it first began with the need to supply The Eastwood Company with photos of a completed chassis. That spiraled into a full blown project that is being followed weekly on the Eastwood website. But if you go there, please come back!
Of course it wasn't long before Auto Restorer became involved and they too followed the project.
And then there's the book. It is out now!!!!! and available here or anywhere books are sold. If you buy it here I'll sign it. If you buy it elsewhere......
This is the '46 Ford as it came into the shop. It's rough, but will become a very nice rod.
As the build up starts new front suspension parts arrive at the shop.
Moving ahead, the new front suspension is under the car and I am ready for the body.
The body has been media blasted and coated with Eastwood RE. Notice the floor pans are gone and the body has been braced using 1 x1 square steel tubing.
We're all about building cars,
it's our business.
The car is assembled after chopping the top to get a verifying look at the results.
First to be painted is the frame
Some body work and the car is hung on the rotisserie for priming
Some HOK Paint
A little more HOK paint.
Not a bad end to a long project.
Plus a little interior trim.
We even gave the car a back seat.
Where's the car now? I've been driving it, getting all of the bugs out of it, waiting for the book to publish. What am I going to do with the car? Eventually...sell it.
1-10-09 - I'll put the car up for sale in a few weeks. I'll also post the car for sale in Auto Restorer in the near future.
This will make someone a great street rod.
I just don't have room to keep it. After all, my thing is building, not keeping.
I will make someone a great deal on the car. I've had a number of great companies donate to this project and that has helped keep the cost down.
